The importance of the Treaty of Lausanne in the 21st century
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne, and ELIAMEP is staging an International Conference on 12 and 13 June to study the continued relevance of the Treaty and its importance as a model for the peace process a century on.
Within this context, ELIAMEP is launching a new podcast series with guests who are deeply knowledgeable about the Treaty.
In the third podcast of the new series to mark the centenary of the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne, Mustafa Aydin, Professor of International Relations at Kadir Has University, talks to Odin Linardatou about the Treaty of Lausanne, its importance a century after its signing, how Turkish nationalists interpret it today, what it means for the Kemalists, and the scope for revising this historic treaty, whose relevance extends beyond Greece and Turkey.
