Pembe Mentesh
COVID, the Cyprus problem, intergenerational trauma and women in peacebuilding / One of my favourite people came into the studio last week for a chat on a number of issues that we as mothers think about often. So with Pembe Mentesh, a mama of two and communications expert with over 20 years of experience in Australia, Cyprus and the Middle East, we chat about the COVID pandemic, the fear and fear-mongering it has created, vaccine privilege and freedom of choice, the impact of lockdowns, masks and testing in schools on both sides of the divide, the dominant historical narratives, having to undo/unravel some of the learning our kids are getting, why we need to forget ‘we will never forget’, the need to heal our wounds and stop the cycle, the role of women in peacebuidling, patriarchy, checkpoint stories and why we need to keep advocating for change and keep hope alive.
