Mothers for Peace - Κατερίνα, Pembe, Aysenur & Ελένη | Mamma Mu E1
For the very first time, in front of cameras and for the whole world to see, two Turkish Cypriot mothers and two Greek Cypriot mothers sit down to discuss their thoughts, worries, and hopes about raising children in a country of conflict and division. Having recently completed a workshop on peace, leadership and mediation with a group of Cypriot women from all over the island, Eleni Antoniou, Pembe Mentesh, Katerina Stephanou and Aysenur Talat discuss what it was like as young girls growing up, the stories and narratives they were told about the war and about ‘the other side’. They unpack the intergenerational trauma they saw and still see in our society, their role as mothers with children who want to move past the fighting and the conflict and what they believe can be done to heal the wounds.
