DIALOGUES 32. Tourism In Uncharted Waters

International tourism, which is widely recognized as Greece’s leading industry, has been severely interrupted on a global scale due to COVID-19. On Wednesday, June 10 at 18:30 (GMT+3) the SNF DIALOGUES explored the new conditions that prevail in tourism both locally and internationally. As tourism restarts, entrepreneurs and employees will be walking a tightrope between the economy and public health, attempting to manage unknown parameters in an unfamiliar landscape. Greece’s effective response in dealing with the crisis so far has been encouraging. Regardless, this year Greek tourism is inextricably tied with worldwide health, financial, and diplomatic considerations. At the same time, the international tourism sector is working to address the multi-layered challenges caused by ongoing developments.
Participants in the DIALOGUES webcast on “Tourism in Uncharted Waters”:
- Alexandros Vasilikos, President of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels
- Georgia Zouni, Tourism Marketing Lecturer in the Tourism Studies Department at the University of Piraeus
- Dimitrios Buhalis, Professor of Tourism and Technology Strategy at Bournemouth University

The DIALOGUES are curated and moderated by Anna-Kynthia Bousdoukou.

*The opinions expressed by DIALOGUES participants are solely their own and do not necessarily represent the views of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) or the SNF DIALOGUES team. Speakers’ remarks are made freely, without prior guidance or intervention from the team.

Παρά την ιστορικότητά τους, οι τραγωδίες και οι κωμωδίες των αρχαίων κλασσικών επαναφέρουν, σε κάθε ανάγνωση ή παράσταση, με αέναο και επίμονο...
