Saving Yahoo!: Marissa Mayer and the Glass Cliff
In 2012, Marissa Mayer became the CEO of Yahoo! — six months pregnant and stepping straight onto what we now recognize as the glass cliff: a high-profile leadership role given to women when failure is almost certain. Once celebrated as Google’s golden girl and Silicon Valley’s first female superstar, Marissa was hailed as the woman who could do it all. Five years later, she was blamed for Yahoo's failure. In this episode, we explore her rise at Google, her impossible task at Yahoo, and how her story became a textbook case of the glass cliff.
