Decolonizing Animals: Truth or Dare? (ΕΝ) [S03E06]
Decolonizing Animals: Truth or Dare? - Styliani Rapti and Thomas Papanikolaou, are students in the Master Program "Newer and Modern World: History, Folklore, Anthropology".
The creation of this particular podcast aims to share the findings of our research in the land of Epirus, combined with bibliographic research. The keystones are three: the good, the bad and the invisible side of animals. The objective is to understand their world as an historical object. The starting point of the whole project was anti-colonial studies and the animal turn, within the framework of Decolonize animals and Decolonize Hellas. Briefly, we describe the mental, social and everyday world of animals and of course, how they are being dealt with by the human factor . Furthermore, with the exposition of a basic theoretical framework from the social sciences, a comparison is accomplished with the hunting tribe of the Cree. Finally, we return to the land of Epirus and the animals it hosts, to expose the problems that arise for the organisms themselves and the research towards them.
The third season of podcasts is entitled "Claiming Visibility: Voices from the Margins". The Laboratory of Social Anthropology of the University of Thessaly, in collaboration with the student network of dëcoloîize hellàş initiative, deals with a spectrum of various exclusions and “unwanted” bodies that succeed, fail or remain in the border/lands while trying to access society. Their production was funded by the Experimental Humanities Collaborative Network.
