Tribute to Greek actress Gelly Mavropoulou
Gelly or Gelly Mavropoulou (October 21, 1932 – July 19, 2021) was a Greek actress, Her parents were also actors Angelos Mavropoulos (1901 - 1979) and Marika Krevata (1910 - 1994). She studied at the French Academy of Athens and at the Drama School of the "Art Theatre" of Karolos Koun. She made her first theatrical appearance at the "Rex - Kotopouli" theatre - where the artistic direction was Dimitris Myrat, with the play "The Seven year itch" by Axelrod, alongside Melina Mercouri, on the big screen, she appeared for the first time in 1953 with the film Dad is trained by Giorgos Lazaridis, followed by leading roles in more than 40 more films.
