AEK & Greece Goalkeeper Spiros Economopoulos

It’s ‘Mr Protathlima’ himself!! Legendary former AEK and Greece goalkeeper, Spiros Economopoulos, joins the boys in The Distillery to talk football! From playing cricket in Sydney as a child, to moving to Greece where he would discover his aptitude for playing in-goal, Spiro would experience a meteoric rise from playing for his local team in Akrata on gravel, to taking the field at Nea Filadelfia for AEK. He would go on to become an integral part of AEK’s 1989 Championship winning side, while also earning himself 12 caps for Greece at international level. Spiro also talks about the success of Tottenham’s new Greek-Australian Manager, Ange Postecoglou in the EPL, as well as the amazing success of The Matildas, in addition to his love affair with the yellow and black of AEK – the Club that gave him his shot! A must-listen for any football fan!
