Azerbaijan's attack on Armenia, Congress' role in holding Aliyev accountable, and the link between Armenia and the Aegean

On Tuesday Senators Bob Menendez and Marco Rubio introduced bipartisan legislation condemning Azerbaijan’s recent unprovoked attack on Armenia and calling for the immediate end to US security assistance to Azerbaijan. This is the latest effort from members of Congress to hold Azerbaijan and President Aliyev - who is backed by Turkey - accountable. These moves also follow a recent landmark visit to Armenia by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, where she clearly condemned Azerbaijan’s “illegal and deadly attacks”. On Tuesday Greece’s Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias also traveled to Yerevan, where he underscored Greece’s full solidarity with Armenia. Aram Hamparian, the Executive Director of ANCA, joins Thanos Davelis to break down the current situation in the Caucasus, the role of Congress in holding Aliyev accountable, and highlight the link between what happens in Armenia and the Aegean.
