Cyprus, Greece, and Israel to link their power grids with the Euro-Asia interconnector

This week Israel, Cyprus, and Greece agreed to speed up technical work on the Euro-Asia interconnector, the world’s longest and deepest underwater power cable that will traverse the Mediterranean. This $900 million project has been described as a “cornerstone” of the countries’ efforts to transition to a green economy, while at the same time enhancing energy security and allowing the three countries to be potential energy exporters.

Julie Fishman Rayman, the American Jewish Committee’s (AJC) Director of Political Outreach, and HALC Executive Director Endy Zemenides join The Greek Current to discuss the significance of the Euro-Asia interconnector, and provide a look into what policies AJC and HALC will pursue in this Congress that could make a difference when it comes to energy diplomacy in the region.
