Tunisia's current political crisis and potential cracks in the Erdogan regime with expert Steven Cook

Over the last ten years, Tunisia has been viewed as the “lone success story” of the Arab Spring. The country was plunged into crisis earlier this week, however, after its president suspended parliament and dismissed Tunisia’s prime minister in a move denounced as a coup by Tunisia’s main political parties. Steven Cook, an expert on Arab and Turkish politics as well as US-Middle East policy, joins The Greek Current to talk about the latest developments in Tunisia, and look at what challenges this poses for the Biden administration. We also look at a recent piece he wrote in Foreign Policy Magazine, where he explores why Turkish politics are more unstable today than at any time in recent years.

Steven Cook is the Eni Enrico Mattei senior fellow for Middle East and Africa studies at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).
