Turkey's campaign of extractions in the Balkans

In the third part of a series exploring Turkish President Erdogan’s geopolitical ambitions, the Financial Times looked into a string of extractions of Turkish citizens from countries in the Balkans. This is part of Turkey's global campaign of kidnappings and transnational repression which we covered in last week’s podcast episode with expert Nate Schenkkan. Today, journalist Valerie Hopkins joins us to take a closer look at these extractions by Turkey’s in the Balkans, which are raising alarms among its Western partners. 

Valerie Hopkins is the south-east Europe correspondent for the Financial Times and a co-author of the recent piece “Erdogan’s Great Game: Turkish Intrigue in the Balkans”. She has covered the Balkans for a decade.
